SAY NO TO THE BILL 490!<\/a> a ser realizado amanh\u00e3 ter\u00e7a-feira, dia 06 de junho de 2023, na frente da embaixada do Brasil em Londres. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Evento idealizado e criado pela APIB Action Group London<\/strong> e conta com o apoio do Greenpeace UK<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Dia<\/strong>: 06 de junho | ter\u00e7a-feira TUESDAY, JUNE 6, 2023 AT 6 PM UTC+02<\/p>\n\n\n\n event was created by <\/p>\n\n\n\n H\u00e1 uma semana, os deputados do Congresso conservador brasileiro aprovaram por 283 votos contra 155 o projecto de lei n\u00ba 490, que imp\u00f5e uma data-limite arbitr\u00e1ria que restringe os direitos dos povos ind\u00edgenas \u00e0 terra.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Se o projecto de lei for aprovado pelo Senado (ainda n\u00e3o h\u00e1 data para vota\u00e7\u00e3o) e sancionado pelo Presidente da Rep\u00fablica, as comunidades ind\u00edgenas brasileiras s\u00f3 ter\u00e3o direito ao reconhecimento formal dos seus territ\u00f3rios protegidos e ancestrais se provarem que estavam fisicamente presentes nos mesmos em 5 de Outubro de 1988. dia em que a Constitui\u00e7\u00e3o do Brasil foi promulgada, ou se n\u00e3o tiverem iniciado reivindica\u00e7\u00f5es legais at\u00e9 essa data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Para al\u00e9m deste “truque do prazo” ser ilegal, se for aprovado, criar\u00e1 espa\u00e7o para mais desfloresta\u00e7\u00e3o, perda de biodiversidade e polui\u00e7\u00e3o dos corpos de \u00e1gua, uma vez que as terras ind\u00edgenas desempenham um papel crucial na batalha contra a emerg\u00eancia clim\u00e1tica.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Enquanto isso, na pr\u00f3xima quarta-feira (7 de junho), o Supremo Tribunal Federal decidir\u00e1 sobre os crit\u00e9rios de demarca\u00e7\u00e3o de terras para a tribo Xokleng do estado de Santa Catarina (regi\u00e3o sul do Brasil), o que abrir\u00e1 jurisdi\u00e7\u00e3o para as pr\u00f3ximas decis\u00f5es sobre a demarca\u00e7\u00e3o de terras ind\u00edgenas no pa\u00eds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Por favor, ajude-nos a pressionar o Supremo Tribunal Federal e o Senado brasileiro para que protejam aqueles que mais protegem o nosso planeta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Junte-se a n\u00f3s na pr\u00f3xima ter\u00e7a-feira (6 de junho), entre 17h e 19h, em solidariedade aos Povos Ind\u00edgenas brasileiros que lutam pelo reconhecimento formal de suas terras ancestrais e pelo fim do genoc\u00eddio devido a conflitos hist\u00f3ricos de terra.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Participe! Espalhe a palavra!<\/p>\n\n\n\n Vamos lutar pelos Guardi\u00f5es da Natureza e da Biodiversidade!<\/p>\n\n\n\n A week ago, members of Brazil\u2019s conservative- congress overwhelmingly endorsed bill number 490, by 283 votes to 155, imposing an arbitrary cutoff date that curtails the land rights of Indigenous people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n If such a bill is approved by the Senate (there\u2019s no polling date yet), and endorsed by the Brazilian President, Brazilian indigenous communities would be entitled to have their protected and ancestral territories formally recognised only if they are able to prove they were physically present on them on October 5, 1988. The day Brazil\u2019s Constitution was enacted, or if they had not initiated legal claims by that date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Apart from this \u201ctime limit trick\u201d bill being illegal, if approved, it will create room for more deforestation, biodiversity loss and water bodies pollution as Indigenous lands play a crucial role in the battle against Climate Emergency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Meanwhile, this coming Wednesday (7th of June), the Brazilian Supreme Court will decide on land demarcation criteria for the Xokleng tribe from Santa Catarina state (south region of Brazil), which will be opening up jurisdiction for the next decisions on the demarcation of Indigenous lands within the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Please help us to put pressure on the Brazilian Supreme Court and Senate to protect those who protect our planet mostly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Join us this coming Tuesday (6th of June), between 5 and 7 pm, in solidarity with Brazilian Indigenous Peoples fighting to have formal recognition of their ancestral lands and to stop their genocide due to historical land conflicts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Engage!
