Brazilian diaspora is organised and taking action against Bolsonaro’s government

Saturday is another international day of fight against hunger, for vaccination and for impeachment.

Last 19th of June, many places all over the world registered demonstrations, with many Brazilians and supporters occupying the streets chanting words with a straight message to Bolsonaro’s presidency. Over five hundred cities all over the world registered some action and rallies demanding the impeachment.

On the 3rd of July, Brazilians were again on streets mobilised against the necropolitics and hunger that is now back to the country after a long period of recovering.

The impeachment is the only way to stop the cruelty of Bolsonaro’s presidency and actions. Since last May, the Brazilian Senate is holding a Committee of Inquiry. The findings brought to light the high level of incompetency and neglect of Bolsonaro’s government, showing that part of the high profile staff of the Health Ministry is involved with some scheme to buy overpriced COVID vaccine. In some states of Brazil, vaccination is suspended because there are no available products to immunise the population.

Another international action is expected to happen on Saturday, the 24th of July. So far, 39 places all over the world are taking protests. You can check the full list of places here, and please, find your gang and bring your signs against Bolsonaro!

Starvation ghost:

Bolsonaro’s ultra-liberal politics is bringing back starvation to Brazil. Research from the Free University of Berlin in a partnership with the University of Brasilia shows that 59.4% of Brazilians were food insecure at the end of 2020, and 15% faced severe food insecurity. This situation is affecting families headed by black people (66.8%) and by women (73.8%).

This week also registered a bizarre situation in Cuiaba, the capital city of Mato Grosso, the state with the largest cattle herd in the country (about 32 million head). Three times per week, people queued to receive bones at a meat factory that donates the remains of the cattle deboning process. The government is paying a maximum of 375 BRL (62 EUR) per family by month, according to their profile. The protests are also demanding a minimum payment of 600BRL per family.

With the high level of Covid contamination with over half a million victims of the disease and the negationism of the government, dissatisfaction is high. At every national movement, more and more people are on the streets saying out loud: #BolsonaroOut #ForaBolsonaro. By the time we are uploading this piece, over 400 places will have some action against Bolsonaro.
